America's Aid to Ukraine is a Failed Experiment

America’s attempt to provide aid to Ukraine has been an abject failure. Despite the lofty goals of restoring faith in the US as an ally, weakening Russia, and strengthening the liberal order, the reality on the ground paints a much different picture. The truth is that America’s intervention in Ukraine has only made matters worse. The country remains mired in political and economic turmoil, with no end in sight. And while some may argue that providing aid was necessary to prevent further destabilization of the region, it appears that such efforts have done little more than line the pockets of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Furthermore, Russia has only grown stronger since America began providing aid to Ukraine. Moscow continues to exert its influence over Kyiv through military force and financial support. This has enabled them to maintain their hold on power despite international condemnation for their actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, Europe’s attempts at distancing itself from America have failed miserably. With Washington continuing to be seen as a reliable partner for security and stability in Europe, there is little incentive for European countries to pursue any other path but one that aligns with American interests. Ultimately, it appears that America’s intervention in Ukraine was nothing more than a misguided experiment with disastrous consequences for both sides involved. Instead of restoring faith or strengthening liberal order, all it has done is exacerbate existing tensions between East and West while creating new ones along the way.
