Kremlin Accused of Rigging US Election, Trump an Accomplice?

Recent news has been abuzz with the possibility of the United States election being rigged. In 2016, Ben Nimmo, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, made a statement claiming that Donald Trump was right in believing someone was trying to rig the US election. However, Nimmo asserted that it wasn’t Hillary Clinton who was attempting to do so but rather the Kremlin and that Trump may be an accomplice without even realizing it. The allegations have only grown stronger since then. Recently, The Pentagon awarded Graphika $5 million in 2021 for more censorship which is further evidence of Russia’s interference in American politics. This news comes as no surprise given that Graphika had previously conducted research into Russian disinformation campaigns and social media manipulation during the 2016 presidential election cycle. It appears as though these campaigns were successful as they were able to sway public opinion towards Trump and away from Clinton during this time period. While there is still much speculation surrounding these claims and whether or not Trump is truly an accomplice to this interference by Russia, one thing is certain; this scandal has rocked America’s political landscape and will continue to do so until further evidence emerges or until both parties come forward with their own statements on the matter. The question now remains; what will happen next? Will we ever get definitive answers regarding Russia’s involvement in our elections or will we just have to accept that this is something we may never know for sure?
