Heroes of India

This poem explores why some people consider certain historical figures as their heroes while overlooking others who have achieved greatness in different fields such as science or medicine. It questions why only warriors from history are celebrated while those who made significant contributions to modern society are often forgotten or overlooked when it comes to celebrating national pride or patriotism in India

If I am a proud Indian, why are my heroes Alauddin Khilji, Babar, Sikandar Miri, Tipu Sultan and Aurangzeb? Why not Azizul Haque, Abdus Salam, Salim Ali, Obaid Siddiqi and APJ Abdul Kalam? The tales of the former are of battles won and wars fought. Their stories of valour have been passed down through time. But the latter have achieved greatness in their own right. Forging paths that led to progress and enlightenment. Alauddin Khilji was known for his military might. Babar was a conqueror who established the Mughal dynasty. Sikandar Miri was a great scholar who spread knowledge far and wide. Tipu Sultan was brave warrior who fiercely defended his pride. Aurangzeb was an emperor whose rule stretched far and wide. Azizul Haque is renowned for his contributions to science and medicine. Abdus Salam's work in physics earned him the Nobel Prize divine. Salim Ali studied birds with keen eyesight so fine! Obaid Siddiqi advanced genetic research like no other before him did shine! APJ Abdul Kalam worked hard to make India's dreams come true! So if I'm a proud Indian why can't these be my heroes too?
