2020 has been a year like no other. With the global pandemic, natural disasters, and political unrest, it’s easy to focus on the negatives. But in the midst of all this chaos, many have found an opportunity for growth and self-reflection. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned this year is to not give so much of ourselves to people who will not do the same when we need them. This can be difficult as humans are naturally wired to want to help others and make connections with those around us. However, it is important that we take care of ourselves first before giving too much away to those who may not return our kindness or support when needed. This lesson can be applied in many aspects of life such as relationships, work environments, friendships, etc. We must remember that it is okay to set boundaries and prioritize our own wellbeing over others at times. Taking time for self-care activities such as yoga or meditation can also help us stay grounded during difficult moments and remind us that taking care of ourselves should always come first. It’s also important to recognize that even though it can be hard at times to put yourself first, doing so will ultimately lead you down a path towards greater success in both your personal and professional life. When you take time for yourself you are able to better understand what you need from others and how they can best support you going forward - something that would have been impossible if you had given too much away too soon without considering your own needs first. Overall 2020 has been a challenging year but one full of learning opportunities as well! The biggest lesson learnt this year is probably to not give so much of ourselves away too quickly without considering our own needs first - something which will serve us well into 2021 and beyond!
