A cartoon image of a monkey wearing glasses sitting on top of a stack of books with a confused expression on its face.
Our species has come so far, in just 500 generations, It's a wonder we have achieved such a level of civilization. We've crafted tools and created laws, built structures and formed nations, But our bodies and brains haven't adapted to this new situation. We are primates living in an environment that is not natural, Where the rules of survival have changed drastically from what was traditional. The food we eat and the air we breathe are not quite what they should be, And our minds are struggling to adjust to this altered reality. It's hard for us to comprehend how quickly things have changed, And it can be difficult to accept that we're feeling estranged. But it's important to remember that we're doing our best, To make sense of this world which is far from the rest. Though it may seem like an uphill battle with no end in sight, We must keep trying despite the obstacles and fight. For while our current state may be far from idealistic, We can take solace in knowing that at least we exist!
