UConn Athletics Shines Again: Could Make History in 2023

The University of Connecticut (Uconn) has won both men's and women's NCAA March Madness tournaments twice already - once in 2004 and then again 2014 - but now they have a chance to make history yet again by becoming only school ever to do so three times!

The University of Connecticut (UConn) has been a powerhouse in college basketball for decades, and they’ve recently made history twice by winning both the men’s and women’s NCAA March Madness tournaments in the same year. The first time this happened was in 2004, when UConn defeated Georgia Tech 82-73 to win the men’s tournament and Tennessee 70-61 to win the women’s tournament. Ten years later, UConn did it again with wins over Kentucky 60-54 for the men and Notre Dame 79-58 for the women. Now, there is a chance that UConn could make history yet again by becoming the first school to ever win both tournaments three times in one year. UConn athletics have long been an example of excellence on and off the court. The university has consistently produced some of college basketball's top players, including two-time national player of the year Breanna Stewart and four-time NBA All Star Ray Allen. With such a talented roster, it's no surprise that UConn has had so much success over the years. This past season was no exception as both teams reached their respective Final Fours before eventually claiming victory in their respective tournaments. The future looks bright for UConn athletics as well. Both teams are returning key players from last season's championship runs, including guard Paige Bueckers on the women's side and forward Akok Akok on the men's side. With these two stars leading their respective teams into next season, there is a real possibility that UConn could make history yet again by becoming only school to ever win both March Madness tournaments three times in one year - something that would be an incredible feat for any program let alone one as storied as UConn athletics. While nothing is certain until tipoff next March, all signs point towards another historic run for Uconn athletics come 2023 if they can keep up their current level of play throughout this upcoming season and beyond. Whether or not they can pull off this remarkable feat remains to be seen but either way it will certainly be exciting to watch them try!
