The Fretful Parent

This soliloquy explores the idea of parents worrying about their grown children staying single forever and taking a more direct approach by providing holiday presents that are meant to help their child find true love.

A family gathered around a Christmas tree giving presents - one present is wrapped in heart paper with an arrow through it representing "love" as the gift being given by parents to their grown child.

Ah, what a cruel thing it is to be a parent! To fret and worry o'er our children's fate, That they should stay single forevermore, And never find true love within their state. What then can we do to help them on? A gift of sorts that might give them aid? We can offer up our guidance strong, And pray they heed the wisdom we have made. For if they seek not out a partner fair, Our hearts will break with sorrow and despair. We must take this chance to make things right, By giving them the gift of love this night. Let us present them with something grand, To set their feet upon the path of romance. It may seem strange at first glance, but hear me out- We'll give them aid in finding love about! Like getting help for any other task- A tutor for math or some such task- We shall provide assistance in seeking love- For 'tis an endeavor fraught with risk. So let us now bestow upon our kin The gifts of hope and courage within!
