Climate change is a pressing issue that has been affecting the planet for years, and it’s only getting worse. Scientists have warned that if we don’t take action now, the consequences could be catastrophic. The Earth’s average temperature has risen by 1.1 degrees Celsius since pre-industrial times, and it continues to rise at an alarming rate. This is due to human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation which are releasing more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than ever before. This extra carbon dioxide traps heat in our atmosphere, leading to global warming and climate change. The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world with extreme weather events becoming more frequent and intense. We are seeing longer droughts, more powerful storms, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and ice caps, ocean acidification and species extinction. These changes will continue to worsen unless drastic action is taken soon. It’s not just humans who will suffer from climate change either; all life on Earth will be affected by its devastating impacts in some way or another. The future of our planet looks bleak unless we make drastic changes now to reduce emissions and protect our environment from further damage. Unfortunately though, many governments have been slow to act on this issue despite warnings from scientists about how serious it is becoming. Without immediate action from governments across the globe there may be no hope of reversing the damage already done or preventing even worse disasters in future years ahead of us – a terrifying prospect indeed!
