It has been two years since the news first broke of a software vulnerability in Twitter that allowed hackers to access personal data. Now, it appears that the stolen information is already making its way onto the dark web. The breach was first reported in 2018 when a flaw in Twitter’s software allowed hackers to gain access to user passwords and other sensitive information. At the time, it was estimated that as many as 330 million users were affected by the breach. Since then, Twitter has taken steps to improve their security measures and protect their users from future breaches. However, it appears that some of the stolen data has already made its way onto the dark web, where it can be bought and sold by criminals looking to make a profit off of stolen information. Twitter is now warning all users who may have been affected by this breach to change their passwords immediately if they haven’t done so already. They are also urging users to enable two-factor authentication on their accounts for added security. This incident serves as yet another reminder of how important it is for us all to take steps towards protecting our online privacy and security. We must remain vigilant when using social media platforms such as Twitter and take precautions such as changing our passwords regularly and enabling two-factor authentication whenever possible.
