According to recent research, men who respond to the phrase “I love you” with “thanks” or “yeah” are likely to be cooling off their relationship and should be watched for signs of infidelity. The study was conducted by a team of psychologists from Tokyo University and involved surveying over 500 couples about their relationship dynamics. The results showed that men who responded in this way were more likely to have an affair than those who responded with more heartfelt words such as “I love you too” or “me too”. The researchers suggested that this type of response indicates a lack of emotional connection between the couple, which could lead them down the path towards infidelity. The study also found that women who responded in this way were less likely to have an affair than men, but still more likely than those who responded with more affectionate words. This suggests that while women may be less prone to cheating, they are still vulnerable when it comes to maintaining healthy relationships. Dr Takashi Yamada, one of the lead researchers on the project, said: “Our findings suggest that couples should pay close attention to how their partners respond when they express their feelings for each other. If someone responds in a cold manner, then it may be time for some soul-searching on both sides."
