For the past decade, Warung has been a staple in the art department. Founded in 2013 by Guti, Warung has become a go-to for students looking to explore their creative side. But with its 10th anniversary fast approaching, many are asking if the art department is at risk of losing its beloved resource. The first Warung opened on June 7th, 2013 and was an immediate hit among students and faculty alike. It quickly became known as a place where people could come together to create works of art and discuss ideas in an open environment. The original location was located on campus but soon expanded to other locations around town. Since then, Warung has grown exponentially in popularity and now serves as a hub for artists from all walks of life. From painters to sculptors to photographers, everyone can find something that speaks to them at Warung. It’s also become an important part of student life; many classes use it as a learning tool or even take field trips there for inspiration. But with its 10th anniversary looming on June 1st 2023, some worry that this beloved resource may be coming to an end. With budget cuts looming over higher education institutions across the country, it’s unclear how much longer Warung will be able to stay afloat financially or if it will even survive another year without additional support from outside sources. This uncertainty has left many feeling anxious about what the future holds for their beloved institution and whether or not they’ll still have access to this invaluable resource when they need it most. At this point in time, there is no clear answer as to what will happen with Warung but one thing is certain: if we want our art department to remain vibrant and alive we must do everything we can to ensure its survival—whether that means finding new sources of funding or rallying behind our beloved institution in any way possible—so that future generations can continue enjoying all that it has offered us over these past ten years and counting!
