McDonald’s Japan announced on Monday that it will raise prices for approximately 80% of its products starting from the 16th. The price increases range from 10 yen to 50 yen for burgers, value sets, Happy Meals and drinks. Chicken McNuggets 15 pieces will cost 120 yen and the extra-large Potanage will be 150 yen. The “Hamburger” will increase from 150 yen to 170 yen. The company stated that the decision was made due to rising costs of ingredients, wages and other expenses related to running their business. They also mentioned that they are looking into ways to improve customer satisfaction by providing a better dining experience in their restaurants. This is not the first time McDonald’s has increased prices in Japan; in 2017, they raised prices by an average of 8%. This latest price increase comes at a time when many people are struggling financially due to the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
