It’s a familiar scene for many South Asian children - their parents encouraging them to focus on their studies and get good grades. But what happens when a wedding invitation arrives just days before an important exam? For many Desi families, the answer is clear - go to the wedding! The idea of attending weddings while studying for exams may seem counterintuitive, but it is actually quite common in South Asian culture. Many Desi parents believe that attending weddings and other social events can be beneficial for their children, as they provide an opportunity to network with potential employers or learn about different cultures. Ultimately though, most Desi parents believe that attending weddings while preparing for exams is not only acceptable but encouraged - as long as students don’t let themselves become too distracted by all of the fun activities at hand! So if you receive an invitation right before your next big test or exam - don’t worry; your parents will understand if you decide to attend!
