Kremlin Accused of Rigging US Election with Trump as Accomplice

A recent report from Graphika, a social media analysis firm, has accused the Kremlin of attempting to rig the US election in 2016. The report was commissioned by the Pentagon and awarded Graphika $5 million for more censorship. This accusation is not new, however, as it was first brought up in 2016 by Ben Nimmo, an information defense fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab. According to Nimmo, Donald Trump is an accomplice in this alleged rigging whether or not he realizes it. This news comes after a series of other reports have suggested that Russia had meddled in the 2016 election. In 2018, special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers for their involvement in hacking Democratic emails and spreading false information on social media during the election. The report also found that Russian agents were behind attempts to hack state voter registration systems and voting machines. The latest report from Graphika has provided further evidence that Russia was involved in attempting to influence the outcome of the election through online manipulation tactics such as creating fake accounts and using bots to spread false information about Hillary Clinton and her campaign. It also revealed that these efforts were part of a larger strategy known as “information warfare” which involves using cyber attacks and propaganda campaigns to manipulate public opinion and sway elections in favor of certain candidates or causes. While Donald Trump has denied any involvement with Russia’s attempts to interfere with the US election, many believe that he may have been aware of what was going on or even complicit in it due to his past business dealings with Russians. However, there is still no concrete evidence linking him directly to any interference efforts made by Moscow during the election cycle.
