In the face of tragedy, Ukrainians have shown incredible resilience and strength. This is true for Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine that has been affected by the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Recently, 10 people were killed in Kherson due to Russian aggression. Despite this devastating loss of life, citizens of Kherson are determined to continue on with their lives and fight for a better future. The mayor of Kherson, Yuriy Hubalov, said “We will not let this tragedy define us or our city. We will honor those who have lost their lives by standing up for what we believe in and continuing to work towards a brighter future for our community.” Kherson residents are doing just that - they are coming together as a community to support one another during this difficult time and working hard to ensure that the tragedy does not define them or their city. They are organizing rallies and protests against Russian aggression, raising awareness about the conflict in Ukraine, and helping those affected by it through donations and volunteer work. The people of Kherson have also taken it upon themselves to help rebuild their city after it was damaged during the conflict with Russia. Local businesses have come together to donate money towards rebuilding efforts while volunteers from around the world have offered their time and energy to help out with reconstruction projects throughout the city. Despite facing immense hardship due to Russian aggression, citizens of Kherson remain resilient and hopeful for a better future - one without violence or fear of attack from Russia. As Mayor Hubalov stated “Our hope is that peace will prevail so that we can all live without fear or worry about being attacked again."
