WWII Reunion After 70 Years Apart

Smollar was inspired to search for Soques del Gallego after seeing a documentary about Filipino veterans of World War II. He was determined to find her and thank her for her service and friendship with his father. After months of searching, he finally located her living in Los Angeles. The two were overjoyed to be reunited after all these years and shared stories about their time serving together in the war. They both recalled how they had helped care for wounded soldiers and comforted those facing death on the battlefields. It was an emotional reunion as they remembered those who didn’t make it home from the war and paid tribute to their courage and sacrifice.
