To Thine Own Self Be True

This soliloquy speaks about how we can sometimes become trapped in our own self-doubt and how we must strive to break free of those chains in order to reach our full potential.

A person looking up at the sky with their arms outstretched as if reaching for something higher.

O, wretched me! How can I be so low? My spirit doth feel such emptiness and woe. What cause hath brought me to this state of mind? To what depths have I been forced to find? I know the answer lies within my heart, Though it is one that tears me far apart. For I am capable of much more than this, But why do I feel like a helpless abyss? The truth is plain for all to see; That which keeps me down is none but me. My own self-doubt holds me back from great heights, And keeps my wings from taking flight. If only I could look beyond these chains, And break free of these darkening stains. Then perhaps I could soar above the clouds, And reach new heights with proud shouts aloud! So let this be a lesson to thee: To thine own self be true and set yourself free!
