A hand holding a quill pen with ink splattered across paper with some lines from the poem visible in gold lettering against a dark background.
As I was signing off on the India edition of the Book of Desire, My eyes began to fill with tears as I read its lines so clear. The words seemed to reflect my life, my loves and all that’s mine, And though I had put much into it, no, this is not just mine. It’s poetry that’s both singular and universal too; A thing that’s so unsettling yet something I must do. I cannot deny the feeling of being so moved today; To have written something beautiful in a way that can't be swayed. The power of words is such a thing – an emotion like no other; A force which can bring us joy or pain – depending on its author. But when we find our own reflection within these very lines, We know we've made a lasting mark - our work will stand the test of time. So here I am today - still feeling somewhat unsettled by what happened; For writing down these words has brought me closer to understanding why.
