Monkey Business in Cacak, Serbia

Residents of the Serbian city of Cacak were left amazed this week when a local monkey performed an incredible feat. The primate, who is believed to have been living in the area for some time, stunned onlookers when it managed to say “bravo majmune” (“well done monkey”) in perfect Serbian. The incident occurred at a local park where the monkey had been spotted by several passers-by. One witness described how they heard a loud voice coming from the direction of the animal and then saw it repeat the phrase several times before running away into nearby trees. The news quickly spread around town and many people took to social media to share their amazement at what they had seen. A video of the incident was posted on Twitter with the hashtag #cacak and has since gone viral with thousands of views and shares across multiple platforms. The story has also attracted attention from experts in animal behaviour who believe that this could be evidence of advanced language skills among primates. Dr Marko Jovanovic, an expert on primate communication from Belgrade University, said that while monkeys are known to mimic human speech patterns, this case appears to be more than just mimicry as it was able to use language in context and respond appropriately when spoken to directly. He added that further research is needed but that this could be an important breakthrough for understanding animal communication.
