Auschwitz Survivor Celebrates 99th Birthday

Today marks a momentous occasion for Lily Ebert, an Auschwitz survivor who is celebrating her 99th birthday. Born in 1921, Lily has seen and experienced much throughout her life. In 1944, she was sent to the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. She was one of the few survivors of the Holocaust who managed to make it out alive. Lily’s story is one of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. When asked about her experience in Auschwitz, she said “I never thought I would survive Auschwitz and have another birthday. At 99, I celebrate to show that the Nazis did not win!” Despite all that she has been through, Lily remains positive and optimistic about life.
