"Eat-Pray-Love" White Women Invade Mexico, Disrupting Local Communities

In recent years, an influx of “Eat-Pray-Love” white women have been invading popular tourist destinations in Mexico. These women are characterized by their overpaying for rent, throwing little bunda to the local male populace, and loudly talking about shots and cocks in public. This has caused disruption to the communities of Sayulita, Mexico City, Tulum, Cabo, Playa del Carmen and Puerto Escondido. The impact of these “Eat-Pray-Love” white women on local communities has been devastating. The overpaying for rent is causing a shortage of affordable housing for locals as well as driving up prices. The throwing of little bunda is creating a culture where women are seen as objects rather than people. And the loud talking about shots and cocks is disrupting the peace and quiet that many locals cherish in their neighborhoods. The Mexican government has yet to take any action against this invasion of “Eat-Pray-Love” white women but some locals have taken matters into their own hands. In Sayulita there have been reports of locals heckling tourists who are acting inappropriately or making too much noise late at night. In Puerto Escondido there have even been reports of vigilante groups forming to keep these tourists out altogether! It remains to be seen what will happen with this influx of “Eat-Pray-Love” white women but one thing is certain: they are disrupting the lives and livelihoods of many Mexicans who live in these popular tourist destinations. Until something is done about it soon it looks like things will only get worse for those living in these areas affected by this invasion.
